Kaya came to us from Sue Beattie of Akanami Shibas in Fredericton, NB. At the time we were just looking for a wonderful family pet, boy how things change... we did get a wonderful addition to our family, Kaya is a sweet girl, and loves nothing more than to give kisses to children, but we also ended up in the show ring rather unintentionally!
We had a rocky first year in the show ring, as Kaya made it abundently clear that she wanted nothing to do with it. Our few trips into the ring were highlighted by Shiba fits, and spending more time on her back than on her feet in the ring. We hit the ring running after taking a winter off, and as it turns out, Kaya doesn't dislike showing as much as she let on. We had a wonderful 2008 with multiple groups placements.

In 2009, Kaya will be selectively shown in the Maritimes in the spring, as well as making a trip to British Columbia to attend the Canadian Shiba National.
